About Us
The Southern California Cement Masons Apprenticeship Program is in existence to properly teach men and women one of the world’s oldest construction trades—to become an expert cement mason. The Program is taught by industry experts.
The SCCMAP operates five training centers throughout Southern California. Within each of the SCCMAP training centers apprentices learn skills such as labor and management relations, worksite safety, working in confined spaces, forming, power tools, measuring and estimating, new green technologies, placing and leveling concrete, epoxy injection, and an array of necessary skills needed for a career as a union cement mason. Under the guidance of SCCMAP, apprentices can expect an array of classes and on-the-job training to help develop marketable job skills while receiving hourly wages and benefits.
The Southern California Cement Masons Apprenticeship Program supports a world-class curriculum of instruction and on-the-job training for more than 300 apprentices annually. Apprentices receive medical benefits and retirement funding as they progress.
Cement mason journeypersons are considered to be on the “upper-end” of the construction industry wage and benefits scale. Eventually, cement mason journeypersons become skilled in their craft as well as in working to bring in the job on time and within budget.
